    Could very well be true WIcatHunter.

    The limited number of folks I know in WI that fish for them do support a season with the exception of 1.

    I had flathead for the first time this year. Maybe my expectations were too high because I’ve heard the same thing…they are the candy bars of the river. The 21 pound flat that died and we had cooked with channel cats was extremely “ho hum”.

    I would eat it again if I had on mortally injured, but channel cat is still my fav. Everyone’s tastes are different I guess.

    FWIW… cats are closed December-April on a few miles of the Lower Wisconsin River below the Prairie du Sac dam–and that includes all cats, not just flatheads.

    Off to download the rules and regs for WI.

    I knew there was one section of a river they made rules for because of the ice house folks snagging them.
