Brian was good enough to share his boat and his knowledge with this old catman last night. He even MADE me take a run on one of his rods and caught the only fish we got last night. Hmmm, I caught the only cat then didn’t I?

I had a great time just yaking in the boat. I have always said catfishin is best done with friends and we did it up right! Time well spent on the water.

    Thanks Brian!

So I’m a little slow…I would have had this post up already if you would have let me take a picture of you holding the kitty while you were wearing your IDA hat!

I’m telling ya, sharing a boat with dis guy is always informative (hooking bullies more toward the center) and fun (kidding you about your River Pro antics -) )

You may have landed the only fish for the night…but I came home with some smoked salmon…Who came out ahead here? Thank you!

We fished some wingies and a couple funnel areas…had a couple runs, but only one fish to make the mixed nuts taste better.

I live 20 minutes north of our fishing location. We had 1.5 inches of rain at home last night and barely a drop while out chasing the low flow flats.

We’ll have to do this again when I am a more experiance catter…I owe you at least one more ride…

I’m looking forward to putting a few cat’s on ice this winter on Horseshoe lake with you and Mr. Hanson. (ICE? Did I say that out loud? )

I have to thank Fisher Dave for keeping an eye on the radar for us…and Manny for makeing me cry with his 28! But..what are friends for?

Ah, The “Smart Boat” eh? Can’t wait for Stu’s playground! I wonder if it will be anything like the “Smart Fire” on the banks of the Root River.

Dark…I’m a little worried..I don’t know how to catch golden eyes!

Well, if the goldeyes aren’t biting the frogs should be hopping!

I’ll try to define a Smartfire as best I can… After a long day of wading the stream, a fire is built in honor of the great outdoors. A meal is prepared..a meal is devoured (eaten quickly). After the stars begin watching and the owls start calling..the fire takes on a whole new meaning. The “crack” of another opened beer or the sound of ice being leveled in a tall glass…this leads to a very elevated sense of knowledge. As the embers turn from red to white and back again, those gathered at the smart fire will tell all the best stories and solve all the worst problems.

One of my best memories of one particular smartfire… a good friend of mine had one last bit of knowledge to share before he headed for the outskirts of camp for a moment. His wise words lingered like the smoke as he vanished into the darkness…he also vanished over the river bank and into the water. I swear he crawled back up that bank faster than he fell down it!

Root River? Fishing for bait? .. never had much luck using them coldwater species of fish for bait

The shore fishing wasnt too bad last night.. it had unusual twist with the storm drain turning into class V rapids. Manny did have a couple other runs. My runs were going 100 miles per hour and turned out to be the wrong specie of cat.. but still fun.

I am glad you guys managed a couple runs.. its been inconsistant to say the least.. a couple runs and didnt get soaked.. good conversation.. sounds like a good night to me.

    Get any new numbers fishead?
