Don’t complain… fish in the RAIN

Well, our crew had a little better luck tonight then we have been having… downpour and all.

We hadn’t been fishing too long when Dave checked the radar on his phone and informed us that we were gonna be getting a storm before long. So we packed up anything that we didn’t want wet… sat back and watched the lightning and waited for it to hit. Literally seconds before the storm hit us Manny caught this 28 lb Flathead.

Then the downpour was in full swing. The guys toughed it out, but Tyler and I decided to head for the truck to wait it out. We had plenty of entertainment watching the guys moving around trying to find the spots that shielded them from the rain. It didn’t work… they looked like drowned rats when it was over.

Once the rain stopped, Dave ended up with a couple of nice Channels… one about 10 pounds or so, the other a little smaller. And I reeled in a small Flathead.

Ralph didn’t have any luck, but he wasn’t able to stay real late… work in the morning.

Our buddy Jeff was having the same luck as Ralph… then all of the sudden we saw him reeling in something. We got all excited for him. The rod was bending good, so I got out of my chair and went to the railing to cheer him on… only to see him bringing in a ROCK. A rock. Can you believe it? He brought it all the way in and had to take it off his hook. Well… he decided to try it again, and rebaited his hook and tossed it out. After some time he reeled it in to check it… as he was reeling it up, his minnow fell off his hook and into the river… and a fish grabbed it off the surface!!!! Poor guy. Can you believe the luck!?! Oh well, at least he wasn’t skunked… he caught a nice rock.

All in all we had a good time, got drenched, and caught a few fish. Not a bad evening.

Nice fish there Manny! You’re going to have to rub your hand on Ralf and Jeff…to give them a little luck

Jeff, I’ve been told that anyone can catch a fish…but it takes skill and practice to land a rock! Sounds like you have that pattern figured out!

Also wanted to thank you guys for keeping us posted on the weather. The storm that hit you stay just to the north of us, but if it weren’t for Fisher Dave calling…it could have snuck up on us from the North and because of the area we were fishing…we wouldn’t have seen it until it was too late. We actually move to the otherside of the river to have a better view.

    Thanks agian!

Hmmm, not gonna “touch” that one

It’s been a while since I’ve caught a flathead, and an even longer while since I’ve got one over 5 lbs so that fish was a most welcomed sight. Got soaked in the process but it was well worth it

Hey, it was a very nice rock…

I just found this forum area, and lo and behold, I find Fisher Sherri has told you all about my fishing humiliation the other night!

And Manny, go ahead and rub Ralph, I’ll pass.

    (BTW, I’m Jeff)

HEY JEFF! Welcome to the IDA Family! Sounds like you know a bunch of the guys (and gals) already!

You’re in great company with Fisher Dave’s family, Manny, Ralph…and occasionally Mr. Breakoff! (Opps, can’t call him that any longer! )

And it was a nice insulated steel wire at that!

It could be worse.. look at Manny.. every time he is down lately he just has to reel in a 30 pound flathead.. this time it hit before he could fall asleep in the chair.

For those who fish with Manny.. that translates into about 20 minutes… the fish tonight hit in about 15 minutes… no pictures Fisher Sherry was late with the camera…

That might be because she had to pour water on the floor of her truck before driving so the carpet wouldnt start on fire below her feet?

I guess it time to fix her exaust.. no fishing until at least afternoon tomorrow.

Well… don’t anyone mention the fish that I caught or anything. It wasn’t that big, but at least it was a fish! P

    I’m awake, I’m awake!! Thanks…

No camera for the 30 lb flat, but as Fisher Dave once said, a witness is just as good. Besides, we’ve all seen 30 lb flats before. But how often do you see a CPR’d rock or a piece of insulated steel wire? Let’s start seeing some pics of Jeff’s proud catches
