Have you ever been sleeping soundly just to have your spouse tap you on the shoulders at 2:30 in the morning? Well, this is what happened to me this morning….
She moved closer thinking she was going to nibble on my ear…then whispered…”Let’s go urban catten”… That’s all I needed to hear! In a half hour I was dressed, truck loaded with rods, net, tackle, bait and of course…the lawn chairs.
Arrived at one of Fisher Dave’s secret spots about 4ish. Just in time to see last nights rain clouds move out and the sun trying to peek out. Set out the two rods and got comfortable in the lawn chairs. Poured some coffee and watch a barge hook up an move up river.
“Man! What a woman I have” I said out loud. I got a smile and a wink.
The sun was just brightening up the day when I notice the reflective Wallmart tape (Thanks FlatheadWI, it works great!) on the black St Croix rod twitch funny. Deb went over and set the Gamagatsu into a 31 pounder! She had to do a little work getting her around the corner and close enough to shore for me to net her…but she managed. Love it when the fish takes out line on a tightened down Garcia 7000!
Got a couple pictures and sent’er on her way.
That was the only bite we had in the two hours of fishing, but since I’m working today…figured I better get home. I’m thinking if Deb wouldn’t have to touch the fish or could net it herself…she would have rather stayed and have me pick her up this afternoon. Or later…
As you can tell…my wife likes fishing, but would rather not hold the fish…in fact, one of the barbules move just a little to close to her leg…her expression says it all in the second picture.
