I saw that everybody was getting fired up for the Get To Gether Catfish Tourney. Here is the tourney information from last year – I will edit out the dates so that nobody gets confused with this year’s event. I expect the rules will be similar this year:
The annual website Catfish tourney will be held in conjunction with the In-Depth Angling.com Get Together. As in the past, the Catfish category will play by their own rules.
Here is the deal…. Fishing hours will be from sunset on Friday, till sunrise. You may submit your best catfish in the following format:
Total length + girth in inches. For example. Measure the fish at it’s greatest length and at it greatest girth. (Girth is the widest spot around the fishes body usually just behind the head.) So a fish that is 40 inches long and 18 inches around totals at 58 inches. The highest total score wins.
To back up your entry we strongly suggest you take a digital picture and post it on this forum. Not a requirement, but you know how cat guys are! A fish without a picture is just a fish story.
You may fish ANY pool of ANY river or ANY lake you choose. You MUST submit your entry between 3pm and 4pm on Saturday, at Evert’s Resort. Please see me.
There will be an award for the best Flathead and best Channel.
Any questions, suggestion for rules changes, or anything else please post here. It’s YOUR tourney, so any changes to the past format will be considered.
Thanks, and hope to see you there.

As mentioned, you can fish any river or anyplace else you want, as long as you get your entry in by 4:00pm on the day of the GTG. Last year only a handful of us fished the cat tourney and the results were kind of wimpy. A couple of those walleye guys caught bigger flats trolling than us cat guys did fishing all night.
I would recommend one rule change from last year’s contest: I would allow catfishing from sundown the evening before the GTG until contest shutdown at 3:00pm the day of the GTG. Then let the biggest fish win- PERIOD. The biggest flathead and the biggest channel wins – period. If one of those “Walleye” guys catch a bigger cat during the contest timeline then so be it. Last year those other guys lost out even though they caught the biggest fish – I say let the big fish win. That is my two cents worth.
