My fishing partner finally made it out in a boat again. His last outing with me was chasing eyes. Am I aloud to say that hear
I couldn’t get a handle on the big un’s last night but we had action Mike did catch a nice 20 pounder. His best Flatty to date so far
We caught fish from 4FOW to 14FOW using gills and crappies. I would still like to give Bullheads a shot for bait, just don’t know where to find them or how to keep them. I have some research to do. Anywho, the bite did vary for us last night also. One fish would be a slight tug then the next would sound alarm with the clicker. I think that is the coolest sound in the dark
We stuck to fishing spots in back water sloughs at current breaks with deep water snags very near by.
We had a great time. Our last fish was caught around 4:30am. After that the lights started coming on and the Flatty’s must have been to bed for the day.
Speaking of bed………Good luck fishing people

There is something about head shots on Flatty’s that I love

You can only use the word “eyes” in this forum if the word “damn” is in the same sentance…same as bass…or if your using it in the form of bait…

Looks like you had a great time! Thanks for posting and shareing…

One question…was it getting cold out? I noticed the gloves in some of the pictures…

Ps Don’t bother with bullies for bait…although I’ve never used gills or crappies…in talking with a number of folks who have, they’ll take a gill over a bully anyday.

After Mike heard about Wats thumb he wasn’t taking any chances I guess he didn’t want to get the fever

It did cool off nice. Ya gotta love the night air.

Very nice out at night – how were the mayflies? Lots on pool 7 the night before.

By the way, the 6 pounders will get your hands a lot worse than the 20 – they have a sharper edge on the back of the teeth and end up gashing if they thrash around. The 20+ fish have worn down teeth and a real easy to find skin flap behind them. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with gloves, especially after the wife pointed out that the primary reason I have hands is for touching her .

Looks like you had a nice night – good pics, too.

Although gloves have been a great topic to kid folk about…I think you maybe seeing more gloves in my photos….and then…just maybe…if your wife is right….LESS of ME!

There were no mayflies to speak of. Just a very few late hatchers. It made the gill fishing very good. I believe Mike might of had about 12 good sized gills he took home for the fryer.

What else can I say other than, Brian, Brian, Brian

I don’t know if you would call it the jackpot Wats, but we had fun. Still would of liked to found some larger kitty’s but the ones we did find were fighters
We were concerned all day about the mayfly hatch but we hardly seen a bug all night. We even had the stern light on most of the night without a problem.

The gloves…..yep, there gloves alright, but he still has soft hands
    Sorry buddy Mike C.
