    Thanks for all the replies
First I need to thank Bret for taking me out and putting me on that awesome fish. We started off by soaking a worm and catching a few gills to use as bait. That in itself was different for me. We actually threw gills back because they were too BIG I never thought I would ever say that After we had enough bait, Bret made sure I was set up with the necessary hardware to chase these monster sized fish. To me, the gear looked like we were going deep sea fishing for sharks Right before dark we were set up on one of Bret’s favorite holes. Sitting there watching the light fade to darkness was so relaxing. There is something magical about being on the water at night. The temps were perfect with no wind. The river looked like glass. While we were waiting for the fish to show up, there was just a little bit of anticipation waiting to hear the clicker take off. Around 10 or so Bret says we got one going I had no clue since I didn’t hear a clicker. This fish was on his spinning rod. After giving the fish plenty of time and making sure it had the bait, the hook was drove home!!! At first I didn’t think it was going to be too hard to get the fish in It felt kind of small but Bret says, “She doesn’t know she is hooked yet”. About that time it came up to the surface, make a huge splash, and then the game was ON. That fish dictated every move. There was no horsing, just keeping the line tight and waiting for the next move. About halfway through the fight, my forearms were burning, and the anticipation was growing. Bret says we have a high 20 fish, by then I was beleiving him Finally, the fish came to the boat and with the expert netman, she was in the boat I couldn’t beleive how big this fish really was. It was awesome and a feeling I will never forget.
This was my personal best, shattering my old best by 29# This was my first time going out at night fishing for flats. That is an experience that everyone should get to try. Needless to say I am hooked, and I owe it all to Bret
I do shamefully have to say, next time I am using a glove My thumb took a beating from the teeth and looks pretty nasty right now. It is all puffed up and infected and hurts like heck. But, I would do it all again without a problem.
