Just wondering if anyone could give a good estimate to the weight of this fish. I sent this pic to the ftr staff a while back, so I apologize for reposting it. Everyone who sees this pic asks me how much did it weigh? I have no idea. My guess is around 40lbs, but compared with other pics it seems much larger. The fish was 44-45″ long. Didn’t get girth. I caught it last memorial day, and was the first time I ever tried to catch or caught a catfish. I would appreciate any educated guesses.

    Thanks

    Darren

Yep…. she looks to be an easy 40.

I tried fishing for Flatheads a few times last year with no luck. Probably in the same area you caught those. I was fishing from shore at the time.
In the fall I did a lot of walleye fishing from the boat in the Shakopee/Chaska area. I have a 16 1/2 foot Sylvan with a 90 on the back. If the water is up, you should be fine. Just take it easy, and slow. There’s a number of mid-river bars that come out of nowhere. Luckily, most times there will be a tree stuck on those with a branch or 2 sticking out.
Just take it easy and you’ll be fine.

What did you catch that monster on anyways?
