    Hey guys,

A bunch of my buddies and I are going up to “Cats On The Red” the third weekend in September. I have booked a room for saturday the 17th through Monday the 19th (Each room accomadates 5).

We will be heading home on tuesday morning the 20th.

Anyone want to join us and have a little unofficial cat mans gathering, catch big channels until your arms are sore and have a great time with some forum buddies?

I think Stu still has room at “Cats On The Red” for that weekend but should probably book soon. Also stock up on your Adivil!

Get a crew together or hook up with some IDA members.

    Who’s going to join us??

I always go up for prespawn. Nobody has been able to convince me to give up the action of early June for a fall trip yet, I will be interested in how you guys do.

I also wanted to emphasize that satying at Stu’s place is great but not required to fish the Red. I’ve stayed several times at the Dearwood Motel in Selkirk. One time Al Linder was in the room next door. It is about 5 miles from Stu’s and they always have open rooms. Never cancel you plans just because Stu is booked up.

Thanks RB…I made the url change.

Better yet…don’t give up the spring fishing and come on up for some fall action too.

    Thanks again!

I’ve only got one friend who likes to go up in the fall, and he says numbers are down…like 8 fish days. But he’s also the only one who’s shown me pictures of channels over 30 lbs. hmmmm

We couldn’t get in at Stu’s so we stayed at the Daerwood in Selkirk. I think they actually call it the Selkirk Inn now?? I agree with RB – it’s a nice hotel with clean rooms, friendly people, etc. 80$ a night plus 200$ (jk) in taxes – an unavoidable Canadian experience

Do you need a passport now to cross the border? We didn’t last year, but someone told me it will change this year….

A response from Mr. Stu himself…..

    Quote:

September on the RED! By far my favorite month! Pre-spawn kitties are a hoot, but those late summer September kitties are just plain mean. The only thing that occupies their minds during this season is FOOOOOD and plenty of it! They put the feed bags on and at times it seems like they don’t take it off! Not only are they aggressive during this time, they seem to be a few pounds heavier than those caught during the spring and summer months.

One of the guys wrote, “if Stu’s place is filled stay at the Darewood”, well he’s right of coarse, as I only have so many rooms!

Bait is always an issue when good success is involved, but then again, all good catters know this! My bait of choice and the kitties preference in September seems to lean toward “tullibee” they simply love them. So keep this in mind if you’re planning to bring along some bait. I usually have decent numbers of tullibee in stock for those that cannot obtain any.

Anyway, I look foreword to meeting you later on this year………..oh ya, don’t forget the “Advil”!

I havn’t stayed at the Daerwood since about 1999. Is the shower water pressure still high enough to strip paint off your car? That was friggin’ awesome.

“One of the guys” Stu, don’t you recognize me? LOL See you in about 48 hours.

Let me add, If Stu’s place is filled, stay at the Daerwood and book a cabin at Stu’s for the following year!

Rb…thats very funny. No water shortage at the Daerood. “Power shower” was the term we used!

The literature I got from the Manitoba Tourism Dept. stated a picture ID and a birth certificate (original or certified, not a photo copy)may be needed to cross. They asked us going in and coming out for our drivers license.

    Hey Brian,

met ya last friday, June 4 at the Mississippi River. After eye-balling those interesting decals on your vehicle, I just had to check out IDA for myself. I like it! Awesome site!

You mentioned “Red September” to me that evening, and I am still very interested. But, I would need to share a ride, a room, and a boat seat for the trip. If anyone going could use a spare anchor, let me know

    Thanks,

    Manny

    Hey Manny! Welcome to IDA!

Great to see you smiling face…and I hope to see some of those cat’s from the all nighters you do!

I heard about your “friend” the other night….

It’s early yet and I’m sure there will be more going up…

I am taking a week off in September and October for the full moons on Mille Lacs. If something is put together for September, I may be coerced into changing my destination!
It sounds too good to be true!

    Brian,

Got the message. Sounds like fun, definitely looking forward to making that trip! I’ve always wanted to visit a foreign country, anyways

Guess Ralph and I will be chasin’ dem flats again tonight, providing that the weather doesn’t get too crappy. I don’t think my new “friend” will be visiting again anytime soon. He may be disappointed that I don’t play that way

    Oh, great! It’s raining…again

Dirk, are you going back for the fall battle? You need to do what you tell them channels…”sign the contract”! I’m in charge of the Advil so I’ll save you some.

Mr. Dark30 and Mr Fishhead will be wetting there lines…In fact, I heard rumors that Fishhead and Dark joined a excersise club…hmm, wouldn’t hurt me to join I guess.
