Sean and I went out to check a couple new areas in search of the ever so pretty flatheads tonight. We didn’t spend much time at the new locations but we gave’em 15 minutes each and moved on.
We anchored in some shallow water in a spot where we could fish deep faster water and also shallow slower water…Sean cast both of his bullies into the deeper faster water…as I was straitghing up a mess in my line.
I didn’t have my hook in the water when his click sounded off with a command….with in 10 minutes of anchoring he was into a good fish. I never did get to see this brute as we spent a good 45 minutes trying to get it out of a snag that she was hung up in….and lost. Sean figured it was a good size flathead because his drag was sinched down tight and this little gal was still pulling line out of his 7000. I knew it was a good fish because his St Croix rod was doubled over into a horse shoe shap
I lost a smaller one and Sean did get to see one flat in the boat. Ended up being 11 plus pounds.
It was a great night to be out on the water….
