It sounded like a good night to check out a few more Monster spots….weather wise. Is it me or do you notice cats bite better before a storm? We didn’t have a storm last night..in fact, it was the best weather I’ve been out in this year. Just needed a light jacket when moving from one place to the next.
Checked out a couple places during the daylight…didn’t fish them, just wanted to see what the current and snags looked like.

The first run was on cut bait and was a dandy channel…likely my largest channel to date…but I was so excited…I forgot to weight her….I’m rotten at guessing the weight of a channel and not much better at flats! Her mouth was odd looking…almost the size of a flat!

After that, the action was fast although the three flats took my bullheads that were almost as big as the cats themselves. From 11 to midnight the action shut down and the only excitment I had was a coon trying to figure out if I had any extra bait for him. I have to admit, it’s a little unsettling to see a pair of beady eyes looking at you in the dark…I thought it was Bowfinhunter for a moment…

    Brian,

Nice channel. I rarely say that. You are becoming an old pro. I still haven’t been able to make to my beloved night zone. Maybe in a couple of weeks. I know nobody fishes them so they are resting nicely for me to return.
