    Man it’s quiet in here!

    Everyone fishing walleyes or what?

Tonight, Sunday…I really wanted to go…but when I was standing outside with my light jacket on, I could feel the light breeze going right through me. Thought about bundling up and just going…then, I thought about climbing into a warm bed with the two dogs…and the wife and said screw it…warm wins this round.

Summers coming…at least that’s what I’ve been told.

I had the same feeling. This weekend I met a guy saying that during the monsoon last week he saw the piggies in the shallows gorging on worms. He claimed 30 pounds but you know how that is. I found some channels friday night in the really fast water by a dam. The barometer was rising and the temp was low but they still bit a little. I love catchin em in the heavy current because at least they SEEM big for a while. And no one here fishes when the water is too fast.

I was out yesterday chasing channels for a couple of hours on the St Croix with my two sons. I was fishing cut bait and they were drowning nightcrawlers. In my favorite channel spot they caught a couple of walleyes, 3 suckers and a half dozen sheepies – I got skunked, not a channel to be found. The walleyes were 17″ and 19″, nice fish. Water temp was 51 degrees and water was coming up from the rain – yesterday pool elevation was at 677.8 feet.

All the planets must align properly, and a freaking nice stretch of weather and all will be happy. I still haven’t figured out how to mount two car seats on my boat. Any ideas?

I have never until this year had to ask permission to go catting. This is a new and dangerous development in the Whiskerhouse. I haven’t decided if I should pout, whine, or just grin and bear it. I have managed to get a lot of stuff done around the house. I am running out of house stuff to do that isn’t expensive. Say hello to my little friends.

Ok…Whisker…the duct tape thing might get you into hot water with the wife…

Although I hear what your saying…but, it shows that you care… in other words….

Show me a man that has two new borns and doesn’t ask his better half about going fishing…and I’ll show you two people that are having or going to have marrage problems!

You my friend are not a man any longer…you’re a father! Smile and be proud!

I am proud as hell. So is the dog. She won’t let strangers within 10 feet of them and won’t stop licking their faces. I have grown accustomed to my ways a little too much. Lucky for me my wife is a river girl born and raised in Dubuque. She is smarter than most Iowans and moved across the river from indian country into the civilized world of Wisconsin.

It might be tough now Whiskerev but the time will fly bye. The good part, just think of how many lines you will have soaking for cats

I used to set up the playpen in the front of the boat. It worked great.

I too did the playpen thing with my oldest son. He was under 2. My youngest is 2.5 and he is going now also. It wont be long, and you can have them out there too!

As for the cats…its time to start mixin up the stink bait. Gonna try some full moon nights with ‘gills for bait this summer both on the big muddy and the black river.

Love that second one! Just the right size AND no gloves…

    Matt,

That is awesome bud. Nothing like hooking up a kid with a fish that pulls back.
