Channel Cat Bite

The channel cat bite continues to be decent despite a huge drop in water temperature. Was out recently by myself and managed about 7 or 8 in about 3 1/2 hrs. of fishing so things could be worse. Here’s a “guess my weight photo” for all you guys who think you can guess the weight of a fish by a photo. Hopefully I can get it all in – it was huge!!!

9 lbs? Come on, that is one of the fattest channels I’ve seen. It’s really hard to guess without anything to compare it to except that sucker. I’ll take a shot in the dark and say 19 lbs.

That is a tough one Dirk. With no fingers to compare it to….I’m going to go with my lucky number 6. Six pounds…and 4 after you squeeze out whatever is in her belly!

PS…the background in your picture looks framilar…have I been there before?

Either way…glad you got out to enjoy some of this weather…

Very hard without something to compare it to. I would say about 8 pounds.

I got a carbon copy last night on the St Croix – I’ll say 11.4#. Mine was 29″ long but a chunky bruiser just like this one.

If it was really big we know Dirk would be holding it. I will go with 9 lbs.

I do claim to be fairly good at judging the weight of a cat from a picture, but you have to have more in the photo for reference.

Is that cutting board 24″ x 24″ or 8″ x 8″ or what? No way to tell.

I’ll say 5 pounds based on the grain of the wood.

And the winner is………………….whoever guessed closest to 9.3 lbs …..I forgot to measure it though. The light color may have something to do with it being caught in fairly deep water?, about 17 feet.

It was 9 lbs bigtime…now if I were to guess…I would think the ‘sippi below the Hastings dam…judgeing by the color. But then again, I’ve seen them come out of the Croix like that too.
