Croix catfish tourney….

Ok.. this is the Mississippi forum.. but they dont have a Croix catfish forum… and you cat guys might be interested in this…. they have an annual Catfish tourney up here sponsered by the Taylor Falls volunteer fire dept…. $50 a boat entry….. anyway.. .they just had the tourney this last weekend…. starts Saturday night till 7 am saturday morning…. the kids that borrowed my boat to enter finished 7th with a 12# and a 10#…. sounds like first was 2 fish that were 18# and 17#… there were 65 boats… 25 had fish…..
I understand that from now through August the catting really heats up in this area (they were fishing above the Dam in TF)… and #s of big cats prevail….. on of my contacts tells me that the week after the tourney is usally awesome…. its almost totally a channel cat bite… but the kids in my boat also landed a 30# sturgeon that night……

yeah.,… sorry about that… I just wasnt thinking!!! keep it in mind for next year… its an annual event always held at this time of year…. and I hear it IS a great time.. the prizes are not huge…. theres IS a huge pancake breakfast in the morning after the weighin… and door prizes are given out…. the croix of course is quite scenic.. though at night I guess it looks pretty much like any other place… but there are a lot of big channels….. and they get little fishing pressure except this one tourney……
