What do you think Mavzer?

Ok Mavzer, I gonna try it. I have been having a lot of luck with the liver but only catching eaters. I found a new hole and just know that it must hold a trophy. Off of a back water, a narow channel opens into a larger one. A 140 degree bend 15 feet deep just piled up with logs and junk. No sign that anyone has been there, gotta get through some stuff. Anyway, do you put your sucker on the bottom with a 3 way or hang it under a big bobber? Do you like to be right in the wood or do you like to be upstream a ways? Up stream would be a lot easier, hard to get out of there when done fishing.

Heck with Mavzer, I think you need to take me to that spot so I can personally fish, I mean, look it over for you. During the day fish close to the snag and above it to try draw them out when the current is slower. At night try fishing any flats adjacent to the hole or the head of the hole or above the hole. Also look for visible current seams. In general bigger, lively bait, will get feeding flateheads. Smaller live bait will get channels or flatheads, and cut bait will get you channels and smaller flats. Good luck and let us know how you do. By the way, placing your bait in water as shallow as 4 feet isnt too shallow.

sounds like a good spot. Try fishing near the brush in the day and away from it at dark like Dirk said. Try fishing in deep water or in the current and move around if you don’t get bites.

well, I hate to agree with Dirk, but he is rite! If you are going to fish it at night I would find a shallow flat or spot with a LIVELY, LARGE sucker…. and put it on bottom with a slip rig and about a 4-6 in leed…. 4 -8 ft is fine ….. if you are fishing it during the day get it down in the deep hole as close to the timber as you can….. don’t let him run with it to much, if at all… let us know how you do…..

Fished it and missed fish. Nothing on the big bait but missed fish on the cutbait only had a couple of bites. I went up above the mess and caught a turtle. It was a wierd night. plan to try again after my boundary waters trip.
