With the water up on the mighty one does the flathead bite drop or is the fishing fine with a bit higher and dingy-er water?
I live on pool 6 and am very inexperienced at flats and would like to give them a try, will the chocolate water slow the action down??
    Thanks
PS. what has been your best action time or day/ night?

Flatheads are a night time deal. Not to say that you cant catch em during the day, your just going to have more success at night when they’re activily feeding. I try to set up just before sunset and fish until sunrise if possible. You’d be suprised just how many flatheads one can get just after dark and about an hour before dawn.

I havent been out since the water came up so I cant really say how the bite has been. Its not so much the high water thats been keeping me of its that with the water temp at around 75-77 the catfish are probably spawning now. Good time to hit the walleys up at Mille Lacs. You can catch cats during the spawn also but its just a little tuffer.

I was catching so many flatheads prior to the water going up I was getting “flathead elbow”. I just needed a change of pace and a chance to rest my arms. I’ll be getting back to buisness soon.
