Have may of you guys tried targeting flats while its light out yet??
Last year was the first year I really went after a big flat and was not able to spend too much time night fishing them.
We did spend a few night out on the miss and the croix but ended up having my best luck 2-3 hours b4 sundown. There would be a wave of channels for about an hour and once the stopped hang on because the flats would move in for about an hour.
I mostly fished off wingdams or eroted banks w/trees right up to the bank and roots hanging all over from shore down to 10-15 fow. I have a boat but would park it and fish off shore seemed to be easier than fighting the waves from boat traffic. Being a rookie at this I thought the flats I was catching were holding to these banks waiting to feed after dark but after a few weeks of steady action I knew they were moving to the bait. The funny thing is these fish were coming thru in groups just like the channels?
Just checking to see if anyone else has seen a pattern like this and worked it b4. I olny spent about 3 weeks last year but am planning on spending alot more time this year and want to keep on this pattern. The olny problem is early season I have other species on my mind
I have a few pics but still cannot figure out how to post them
