Age of a Channel Cat

    I recently caught a 21# Channel Cat while fishing for panfish. Any idea how old this fish is?

    I take it you cought it out of the miss…?? The growth rates for catfish are dependent on their envriroment….. I if you cought that out of the miss I would guess that it is over 20 years old….. not sure though…..

    mavzer is right… depend on where ya got it. I have knwo idea what age would be, but up north here we have alot shorter growing season for fish unlike the south, so a large fish is usually way older than ya think. But then again, there are always exptions.

    Actually I caught it a bit further north out of a lake the Snake River flows through. I’m not sure what is considered a big Channel Cat but we catch them anywhere from 5 – 20 pounds throughout the summer.
