Well for all the cat fishing reporting going on here…we might as well go all the way down the tubes! Anyone got an extra pair of shorts?

Is it just me, or has everyone seen something out of the ordinary crossing a river or lake? This spring I watched a deer swim from WI to MN (yes he was a confused deer) and just the other night I spoted a piece of wood floating, but it had a gold dot on the end. As I got closer, I could see it was an animal of somekind…turned out to be a coon. The was heading to MN too. He oviously wasn’t aware of the game laws in MN.

Anyone else see anything out of the ordinary?

Not unusual for this time of year, but I see about three hundred pelicans, a thousand or so geese, and countless ducks as I go out to the river. Haven’t seen any swimming mammals lately, best one yet was seeing six otters – they’re loud at night! Pretty cool to watch, too.

Caught two eleven pounders tonight – missed two others, felt small.

Up to 98 flatheads for the year and the best few weeks are yet to come – this’ll be the first year I’ve topped 100. I did get 60 cats in late Sept through late Oct. one year though. Shows how bad the rest of the year was that I didn’t get above 100 that year. Not that it’s all about numbers, of course! Just that this post seems to have numbers in every sentence….

This maybe isn’t so unusual, but was very interesting for me to see. I was pulled in by some logs the other day fishing for cat. Caught a small walleye just short of legal length. Put it back in the water unharmed at the back of my boat. Shortly after I heard a ruckess on the bank, turned to look and saw this walleye being pulled up the bank. Couldn’t see what was pulling it. Things got quiet, but I kept an eye on the bank then. Turned out to be 2 mink playing around. 1 was much larger than the other. So I figure they were male and female. They were only 8 – 10 ft from me. That was so cool. Guess they have to eat too. And size doesn’t matter to them

Fishing Machine! I didn’t know you were a cat person at heart!

Now you’ll have to get rid of your mug shot holding that “bait” fish and post a picture with you and a real fish!

Close up minks and otters just don’t happen everyday.

    Mudcat…come to Woodbury…you can shoot 73,000 honkers!

I think we could have a 10 month season…just close it in the spring for a few years.

But then, I like geese…the crap on the golf courses….
