Mavzer and myself have ironed out the details for the catfish league we talked about earlier on FTR. I will post all the details tomorrow. I wanted to get started on a signup list ASAP though. So get a partner together and send me a private message with your team name (whatever you want to be called) so we can start setting it up.
Here are some of the nuts and bolts of the league:
-The first outing will start Friday May 3rd. Each “outing” will last from 12:01 am Friday morning and last till Saturday at 11:59 pm. (48 hours total). You can fish anytime during that period…..All 48 hours, or just a few minutes if you wish.
-Outings will be held every other Friday/Saturday starting May 3rd and going till Sept 6th, for a total of 10 outings.
-Your 3 biggest cats per outing will be counted for your total league points…..channel cat or flathead.
-You will have 3 ways to verify your catch. 1. Have another league boat see you measure the fish and have them sign their name on a slip of paper provided by me, with the length on it. 2. Take a picture with a digital camera that has the date displayed on the picure and send it to me via email. Any other picture will work provided it has the date on it and the picture is given to me before the start of the following outing. 3. Bring the fish to Everts Resort to have me verify the fish. (This can be done between the hours of 6am to 6pm, or later if i’m here).
-All fish will be scored based on length, not weight or girth.
-Teams can have a substitute if one member can’t fish that week, but at least one team member must be in the boat each outing.
-Entry fee is $30/team for the entire year.
-You can fish pool 3 OR 4.
-You can launch your boat anywhere you like. If you launch out of Everts Resort the launch fee will be only $3.
Prizes will include 100% cash payback based on number of entries, St Croix catfish rods donated by EFN, (Thanks EFN!!!)and reels donated by Everts Resort. The number of places receiving prizes will be determined by the number of entries.
-The grand chamion will be the team with the most cumulative inches of catfish (either species) at the end of the league. Prizes will also be given out for the largest flathead and the largest channel cat.
-All fish entered as “league” fish must be released. You may keep fish if you wish, but not the ones being registered as league fish.
These are the main details for now. Find a partner to team up with and send me a private message with your team name. This is going to be a great time. It’s not a big $ league, just a bunch of catfishermen/women who love to fish cats and have a little fun competition as well! Lets get this thing rolling! Start signing up now!
Any questions, feel free to PM me. Thanks.
