well, this weekend i foudn out why my bullhead supply has been decreasing. For starters, Saturday afternoon i reached into my bait-crate thats tied up to our dock and realized i had only 1 doz bh’s in there (there was 20-30), thats because the top was opened due to crazy wave action…. so i assume thats how the missing ones got out. it had to have been like that for a few days.

So……. i make a urgent decision to go catch more before sunset. WHen i was done fishin i put 2 doz in my cooler for fishing and the other 2 doz in a different cooler to stay at home………..this cooler was sitting open, outside.

when i got in from fishin at 7am, i got home and glanced into the other bait cooler and noticed there was NONE in there!! Being as tired as i was, i stood there for several minutes trying to figure out what happend, then i looked around and saw dead, half eaten carcasses all over the driveway

i assume it was a raccoon…………. or worse………. the neighbors cat!

Hey MudCat – I had the same thing happen to me last year. I caught the masked robbers in the act. Raccoons. I caught a couple in live traps and hauled them over the river into Wisconsin. After that I covered my bullheads real good and haven’t had any trouble since. I also had opossum issues but I don’t think they were eating my bullheads. I got rid of those buggers too.
