Theres too many good spots down there, its going to be the same info on any strech of river, anyways I’ll keep it short and sweet. The #1 area that I know of is below L&D 18 north of burlington. Stay on the deep holes and its going to be productive. Log jams on islands adjacent to the main channel are also a safe bet. Check out the Skunk River confluence on the IA side and try the wing dams on the south side of that. Iowa Southern Power Plant discharge can also be a productive spot. I’ve never fished below Ft Madison where they are putting in at but I’m sure most of the same holds true down there. Theres plenty of others out there but these are the easiest to find, I can’t give out all the secrets, can I.

It can get pretty shallow in the sloughs off the main channel especially this time of year. You can be going along in 6′ foot of water no problem at all of a sudden, no more lower unit, never saw it comming. It was a pretty common occurence when i was living there.
