Who won?

I don’t see many posts about the tourney – did Comanchero’s cat win? I went out with my buddy all night, got wet, and fished in seven spots. We got 3 fish, all small. The first was the biggest, it hit during the storm – 13lbs, 33 inches in length and 17 in girth (kinda long and skinny) for a total of 50 inches. I thought the weather might mean there’s a fluke and that could win, but I was too tired to drive up there without really thinking I had a chance. I also caught three channels, the biggest was 23″ long, 13″ girth for 36″ total. Here’s the pics:

Please tell me these little guys wouldn’t have won! I figured even with the rain there’d be people going out afterwards.

Hey Matt – I know you don’t want to hear this but you would have won easily in both the Flathead and the Channel Cat categories. My little Flat at 39″ total got beat by 1/2 inch in the Flathead category. I can’t remember what the Channel size was but I don’t think it was very big. Not many cat guys were there. I was glad I drove down for the get together, it was a good time and it is nice to put a face on some of the people you read posts from. I look forward to seeing you next year.

Oh well… I break rods like nobody’s business and I like spinning rigs anyway (almost have myself convinced). Woulda been nice to see a few catmen and hang out. I guess the weather must have interfered with most people’s plans – I woulda thought at least a 20 pounder would get caught, and the channel would have stiff competition – most folks know how to catch them better than I do. I’m set up for rods anyway, it’s reels that are becoming the limiting factor – I have three that work and three that don’t – haven’t been able to cobble any of them together even with all the junk parts. They’re cheapies, though… I mainly need them for the nephews, who each have only one rig…

Hopefully next year the weather won’t interfere – although it usually does on these things that get planned so far in advance…

    Happy Hunting,

Bob J. and I went out for a while and got first and second place in the channel cat category. The cats were tiny. They were 31″ and 30″. We didn’t catch any flats.

And lots of it. I never even made it out for walleyes on Saturday. We emptied three kegs Friday and Saturday.

Gator, there was some confusion there at the awarding of the rods and they must have thought your fish was a flathead because Chris won the Channels with one that scored 39. You get all the credit though since you put us on the exact spot it came from. Thanks again buddy. It was a great weekend. Fishing, beer and Jeff Foxworthy—can’t wait till next year.
