I am just wondering if there is any catfish, (flathead) action out there or if the high water is just been killin it. Have not had a big chance to get out. Had a permnent new arrival a few weeks back and he has the ability to keep me up all night. The up side is that he will be my fishing partner sooner than later. So what is happening out there in the chance that I can get out?

When I’ve had the chance to get out laley and the water isn’t too high I’ve been getting some flats on the Minnesota shore fishing. Last friday we got a 37″ that was 30lbs on my scale. The high water has made shore fishing easy if the spot isn’t completely flooded out. We have been getting all of our fish near creek mouths especially where there are snags out in front of the mouth blocking it from the main current flow.If anybody out there wants to get out and fish drop me a line. I should be getting a boat soon, which would expand my fishing beyond the Minn.

No flatheads in my stretch of the Mississippi but tons of small channel cats, all under 2 pounds. I’ve never caught so many of them, they are excellent for eating, just as good as walleye or perch.

We’re planning on hitting the Iowa river Saturday morning. This will be the first real catfishing trip of the summer. I’m not much on high water, but any more waiting and I’ll go crazy.
