I was lucky enough to tag along with Mr. Dirk W (yes the contributing editor to In-Fisherman) for a channel cat fishing adventure. The forecast was scatter showers with t-storms. I was hoping for the best.

Once we arrived at the first of his secret cat holes and I was allowed to take the bag over my head off…(still not sure if he didn’t want me to see where we were going….or what), we tossed out some cut chubs and redhorse sucker.

The first couple spots didn’t get the blood pumping but, the 3rd hole along a nice little undercut bank popped out a little flat head. From hear on it was all channels and more than I’ve seen in one outing! Never seemed to have to wait too long for a rod to bounce a couple times and then take the “golden dive” where the rod tip heads to the water!

I will be the first to admit, I’m not an expert on where cats hold, but we fished and caught channels today that I would have passed over for “dead” water. I was amazed at the number that came out of one particular stretch. I may be off a bit, but I believe it was four.

I lost count of the number of cats that were boated today. It was somewhere around 10 or 12. Learned a few things from the ol’ Pro and had a great time. I would say that was an excellent day catt’en.

    Thanks Dirk!

The picture above is of Dirk…doing what he does best!

    Hey Dirk,

I believe there has been a unanimous decsion amongst the moderators to not allow Sir BK to post any more photos of “his ugly mug” on this family site……..for the good of the children, of course

    Are YOU talking to ME!

If that’s all it takes to keep rocking those channels…I will never post a pic of myself again…

Dirk, do you have an exclusive on fairy dust that puts you nose over those cats? Might want to mail some to Jake…he’s sniffling….

    Nice fish again guys
Do the cut baits work as good as that old cheese or livers and bullheads and night crawlers.

    Hey Walleyeboy!

I’m just a catfisherman wannabe…but from my understanding the blood, cheese and stuff works best on smaller channel cats. For the larger fish, you’re best off using a piece of sucker. Flatheads (most of the time) like a lively bait like a wiggling sucker or bullhead.

Here’s a couple more pic that I finally have time to post…

ps…really high water on this day

Dirk, I think I got that building edited out…no one will ever be able to tell where this hot spot is!
