    hey guys,

i have been looking aroudn the net and at the library for any information pertaining to Catfish Phisiology.

Things such as respiration, reproducution, osmoregulation, nervous system, special phisiological adaptations, etc.

Suprisingly, i cant find any good into i dunno what my problem is. The campus library doesnt cary squat for peer-reviewed scientific articles, so i am stuck to search on the keyboard.

Is there any books, or websites you guys have seen that might help me out a little………..

    thank a ton!!!

if you are mailing some good cat info, i would really enjoy it as well. [email protected] i got the catfish edition of the freshwater angler series last year and found it to be pretty good book. has alot of good info on the physiology of cats and such.

Yes it can put you to sleep for a few weeks! As you can see, the first 100 or so pages are on how the info was collected. Good area to skim

Just think…when your finished with that…the water will be 60 degrees…just before fall!

Great! I wish I knew how to post a 2 meg doc on the board? I think others would be interested.

All I ask is that you respect the authors wishes by giving him credit and if you post it someplace, it’s posted in it’s entirity.

did you know that gustation (tatste) in catfsih is mediated by 175,000 external taste buds and 20,000 internal taste buds. This is an outstanding adaptation to their sense of taste, because humans will average 10,000 taste buds strictly located on their tongue. They can taste chemicals before they even touch them, meaning the gustation system works along with the olfactory system when tasting and smelling chemicals.

basically, they can taste food before it enters their mouth, and i look at it this way, if you are making some chili on the stove and ya wanna taste it. just put your finger in……… mmmmmmmmm…….. spicey!!

There’s a few of you that have asked for the Flathead info that I mentioned above. When I emailed it, it came back because you mailbox was full or it was just too big to send because of the size limit.

James has agreed to post it on his site for all to view. When it’s up, I’ll post a link to it here.
    Good fish’en!
