Hey All,
What is the best stink bait on the market? I am just getting into catfishing and have caught cats on cutbait in the past, but would like to try the stinkbait too. Any recommendations? Has anyone ever used Sewer Bait?
Thanks,

I use Sonys Dip bait and catch alot of channel cat on it.I would use dip bait all the time less mess to deal with.ICE JOHN
While everyone eventually has a favorite, TJ’s is one of the preferred around here. Some doctor theirs with Sonny’s and/or Hog Wild, but I prefer to use it straight. It is available in stores in the Clinton, IA area, but usually in smaller containers. Nick’s Tap in Sterling, IL sells it in 15 lb.(estimate) buckets. The price last year was $23.
PS Nick sells beer, too.
I would have to say junnies wicked sticky, G&S cheesebait and Rays way are the 3 best stinkbaits for summer cats. There easy to apply on the worm and last quite awhile in swift current.

Anyone interested in stink bait might find this a good invention. http://www.loopersrigs.com/main.html I talked to the guy once and he sent me a sample. They hold more Sonny’s than anything I have ever seen. It isn’t me btw. josh.
Thanks for the info. Haven’t seen that rig around before but it is surely worth a few bucks to try.

I have only tried stink baits a couple of times and it was a mess to use and I got it all over my boat carpeting. All it seemed to attract was small fish. I’ve often thought about coating my cut bait with it to see if that would trigger bigger fish. Anybody ever dipped their cut bait in the stuff?
Hi Comanchero,
No doubt, stink bait can get messy. Especially bad in the hot weather. Never exposed to it until moving to Iowa 30 years ago. Couldn’t believe it, but here I am a real user. By the way, the floors come out of my boat for easy cleaning.
Regarding small fish, how small is small? Some days only fiddlers are feeding. Don’t give up. Never tried dipping cut bait, but I’m sure someone has. Seems it would not stick well, especially in the current.
Keep on dippin’,
You would negate the reason for using cutbait if you put stinky goo all over it. The bigger cats are more attracted to fresh food. They are not scavengers anywhere near the amount that smaller channels are.
Yeah it’s really for catching small eaters. Some people really dig that though. Most bait type things don’t hold enough of the stuff to keep it effective for very long.
My experince with dip bait lasted about one dip. After that I desided I did not want anythig to do with a fish that would eat something like that. Let alone eat a fish that eats stink.
There’s some good eating.
Cut bait, minners, crawlers or as of last summer crank baits. Leave the stink where it belongs.
I don’t use it much anymore. However, It produces during the day really well when other things are not. I like Sonny’s when I am using it. My wife and I got under a tree one time, there was something dead in there. I think it was a horse. We anchored up wind of it and caught Channel cats as quick as the stink bait hit the bottom. It was an awesome afternoon and a great way to take a novice or a kid catting.
Brian just drive across the river. More of them than you can shake a stick at.
