Caught 3/29 on Pool 4 of the Missisippi River on 6 Lb test mono and a kelly green bucktail. The fish inhaled my little offering and the fight was on. 4 minutes later this beast, renown for it’s fighting ability, was laying in the bottom of my boat.

I hope everyone understands I’m only poking a little fun here with my comments about catfish. Truth be told, I like catching them and actually enjoy spending time out with Vick and Wassink chasing them around. I’m still not sure what a wallnutter is though?

Lots of nice flatheads are being caught, as opposed to snagged as was the case earlier in the season, right now on Pool 4. The warmer temps went and energized this species but I bet the rising waters push them off channel in a hurry. Right now we’re catching them behind the wingies but that won’t last long at the rate the river is rising.

Turtle catches have been a little too regular an occurance in my boat of late… about one per day actually. I’m not sure if we’re snagging them out right or if they’re trying to scroung a meal and mistake a ringworm for a techno-colored treat and then get hooked?

I got the real scoop from the picture taker. This is the first pic of James before he edited the photo. That magnificent beast must have really put a fright into him. Never before had he had such a battle.

I must have been drinking lime jello!… lol

Good one Wassink but I just don’t feel comfortable with you airbrushing me there. Let’s not EVER let it happen again and we should promise to never speak a word of it amongst ourselves.

I think I can speak for Bowfinhunter, Catten Addict (if he’s not still lipped) and myself….

That’s what every true wallnutter says.

Trust me, that’s as far as I’ll take it. Can’t be too hard on a guy who can catch a fish like that. He was getting just a tish too rooster-ish though. Man, I love this board!
