Check rockauto.com. I just looked and they had them for both engine options. VERY limited quantity however.

Technically you don’t even need one from my research this AM. Makes ya wonder how many vehicles r driving around rn w out them with just a flexed hose clamped in.

Local shop here installs universal aftermarket ones, then wires, clamps, welds and paints them after to make em more of a PIA next time around. Not even gonna go thru insurance, back on the road tomorrow.

The thug POS left some change and a lighter underneath the vehicle, been waiting on the MPLS PD to show up to take into evidence but apparently they won’t bother with it. In my armchair CSI mind a lighter is a good lead for fingerprints, but the lady on phone said they won’t even take it in. Can’t wait around anymore a guys gotta get to work. Probably the most frustrating part of it all honestly.

    Round and round we go….

That sucks. Just weld up a glass pack.
As for finger prints lol now that’s funny. Mpls police probably have 48 shootings to get to.

I am confused why people think painting a cat will make it hard to steal or scrap. They are illegally buying them any ways. The scrap yards are as dirty as the thieves

Dont need to worry once an aftermarket one is installed. Any thief who knows anything knows aftermarket converters aint worth anything. Pennies on the dollar compared to OEM

which shop out of curiosity? would be good to know for when this happens to me. Would also be curious to know if you run into any issues with sensors or anything going with aftermarket. i imagine if done correctly it wont be an issue

Replacement cost on a cat and exhaust repair is usually well over $1000 now.

You’re talking replacement cost, including labor. Cats themselves are nowhere near $1k, $250 is a more accurate assessment for the part that was stolen.

You will be hard pressed to find and OE cat for $250.

But if anyone believes for a second that this is ever going to be more heavily policed you’re wrong. What will happen is regulations will be passed that require manufacturers, or more likely owners, to install deterrent devices on our own dime. IF you haven’t noticed that’s how government works, they don’t punish criminals they punish victims.

My particular cat part is $6-700, and the bigger one was over $2k. Mine was lucky to have 2 tongue

Crappie , Nghias garage is half block from me, I should’ve called him first. He’s really top notch as far as just getting ya back on the road. Good ol Northside mechanic. Otherwise couple other smaller outfits in the west metro are able to do it as well, can’t remember the names talked to alot of people this AM. When you hear no timelines for backordered parts for work vehicles you have to find other routes.

The cuts on the pipe were super clean and straight, tbh was a little impressed. Still pricks tho

They were probably using the CatExtractor 2000 cordless. That’s the one all the top perps are using now over here on the right side of the river. Nice clean cuts in half the time. It’s available on Amazon.

Nice to see the perps in Minneapolis showing some pride in their workmanship finally.

I play softball with some cops and they said there has been some hairy situations where thieves have been confronted. he said most of them have nothing to lose at this point and can be dangerous.

They’ve had situations where the owner has twisted teh jack onto the dude, ones where the owners have caught them, the people ran, and they had the jack, sawzall, and kept their cut up cat.

the best one is they tried it on some farm kid and he gave the dude a wound up boot kick to the dudes gooch….sent him to the hospital and everything. no charges filed. lol.

but they said most of them have look outs that are likely strapped. don’t get shot for a cat.
