OK. Time to start a little activity on this thread. Was heading back from Pool 4 last Thursday, and decided to give the river a try. Launched at 4 pm, a couple hours ahead of a brewing storm, and fished till the downpour started at 6:30. Got a few white bass and couple crappie, jigging for eyes, but no eyes. Water temps were at 65 degrees. Two other boats on the water, both pitching for skis. Packed her up and drove the rest of the way home. Plan on heading back to fish the upper stretches of river above Petenwell in the next couple weeks.

It should not be long for things to get going . The last I was on the big Pete some of the old river channels held a lot of eyes out from the wilderness camp ground.

Nice fish, Jeff. Every summer, I have designs to get over there for a couple days, and even have access to a friends cottage, but as is usually the case, other things get in the way (like Lake MI fishing ). Do you stay in the lake as the fall wears on, or shift into the river??
