Big brand name, Hornady, Federal, Winchester, Remington, defense loads.

I like using a reliable ammo too. Make sure you put a couple boxes through and change your ammo often. I don’t know how many people I have ran into that have 2 year old ammo in their gun. I don’t trust my life on it.

    Just my two cents.

I carry Jesus with me always, never gets old, is forever reliable. Besides, I drink way too much to concealed carry.

Jacketed Hollow Point from top manufacturers…Hornady XTP my first choice.
I reload my own. Shoot often. When at the range I may just shoot FMJ round nose just to keep the feel. Remember, carry loads aren’t meant to drop a deer at 50 yards…further more, you don’t want them blowing through the attacker at 30 feet or less. At the range I belong to, we have targets as close as 7 yards, yes. 21 feet…chances are your bedroom isn’t over 21 feet long. You don’t want the bullet going into the next room. So I reload accordingly.

Hornady Critical Defense is what I keep loaded in the house. I live alone in my house so I could use my .41 mag if I wanted to but when carrying, it’s a whole new list of considerations and I believe the manufactured defense loads are a must. FMJ’s are for practice only. JHPs or similar expansion designed rounds are what you should carry. I also agree that the rounds sitting in the carry weapon shouldn’t be allowed to get too old. It’s okay to buy a stock pile and store them in a moisture/temperature controlled environment but anything kept in the gun should be shot out every so often. You determine what’s right for you but I tend to burn mine at least every 12 months or less. Humidity takes a toll! I’ve never had a bad round cycle that was getting about a year old but the thought of 2 summers worth of humidity just gives me the creeps so I blow it all out and replace somewhere in that 6 to 12 months. Sometimes I burn them out by April because summer’s coming and then I’ll burn them out again in the fall because they’ve been in the gun all summer! Anyway, it’s all up to you but this is what I follow.
