The folks at Carpenters Nature Center hope to make this an annual event.
It’s set up for kids that never or seldom have a chance to fish and was summed up by one fella as time approached quitting time at 11:30 yesterday.
“I don’t want it to be close to 11:30! This is the only time I get a chance to fish all year and I don’t want it to end!”
That was to tone all morning. The kids walked out to the fishing area and were helped with cutting the first holes and setting up a tip up. The rest was up to them with the guidance of one of the “guides”.
Special Thanks goes to Jennifer Vieth of Carpenter Nature Center, Tim Schlagenhaft, John Knopf, his son Dan, Jessie Eckroad and our own Chris Tuckner for lending a hand with instruction and gear.
BTW Tuck may have had the largest pike on the line but as luck would have it, broke the line at the hole.
Next weekend’s Family Event is at Lake Rebeca in Hastings MN.
