carpal tunnel surgery

I’m having it done tomorrow along with trigger finger relief on three fingers on my right hand, and I’m right handed. I’ve got others to do the hard and dirty work. My question is how long till I can hold an ice fishing rod and pull a crappie out of a hole. Any of you out there have to cross this hurdle?

I had the surgery done on both wrists and got the stitches out, put some wrap on and was playing volleyball and spiking freely within 10 days. Probably not recommended but I found the surgery to be instant relief and very fast recovery.

Best of luck with your surgery —

i would say a month….. ive had it done and its pretty giid in 2 weeks but you wont have much strength….. I remember having trouble turning the key to my truck after a few weeks but at that 1 month time things start coming back quick. mine was very sensitive to cold water and air, it would get stiff and tingle even holding a cold beer. that was the worse part of it for me. that didn’t get better for about 4-6 months.

make sure you massage the scars as often as you can. that helps everything get better faster!!

Well, the carpal tunnel aspect seems minimally uncomfortable, but the individual procedures to relive the trigger finger on three of my fingers is kicking my ass. Without moving them they hurt…and dr says I need to keep flexing them. I hope to have a better update soon.

I’ve said this before, but numbness, tingling, pain is pretty common day in my world as a construction guy. Once I started doing my own vehicle repairs, turning wrenches, etc, immediate relief. Obviously this doesn’t help the OP in his situation, but the repetitive motion I think what kicks our a$$ long-term. I fear I’ll be in this same situation years down the road, but any bit helps. Change up the daily motion.

Best of luck in your recovery. If a man don’t have his hands that makes for a tough life.

You speak the truth bud……If I hadn’t been so stubborn and had mine RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury) taken care of before it was too late I would be still be working today…..
Ask your Dr about stretch exercises for your hands…They can really help keep it from going downhill.

Your Mom only told you that you could go blind. She didn’t tell you about wrist problems that could show up late in life. doah
