Canoe fishing walleye

Next week I’ll be way up north near (but not in) the BWCA hunting for grouse. Looks like it’s gonna be cold…oh well. Anyway, I’d like to do some walleye fishing, but I’ll only have a canoe at my disposal. Never fished those kinds of lakes at this time of year, so looking for ideas about my general approach. I mention it’ll be paddle-powered because I know that will cancel out some tactics. What do you think? Slip bobber rigs? Trolling somehow?

I would cast the shoreline with rapalas and plastics. Look for the windblown points and shorelines. The fish will be shallow in the morning and evenings this time of year.

Canoes are dangerous this time of year be careful. If you will be by Ely I may have a good lake for you-

Oh yes, we’re taking that very seriously. I’d like to take you up on that offer, but we won’t be too close. Thanks anyway
