Looking good wild man. Best let the belt out a notch so you can really enjoy those pickles.

I had a nice slicer just peeled with dinner tonight. Little dip in some salt and gnaw away. Cukes are great this years with all the wet. Eating some super 100’s now and have several slicing tomatoes ripening too.

I have more Japanese beetles on the beans than I have actual beans, but the beans are coming. 1″ right now. The peppers are crazy. The sprayer is ready for in the morning for the beans and our grapes….gotta have my wine ya know. The first spraying lasted nine days but I see those shiny suckers out there again tonight so…..

I used to make pickles like you do Glenn but quit because we couldn’t finish them up by the time the next season started. I’ve had a hangerin to make a handful of quarts again…we’ll see. Those look good though bud!

Thanks Tom. I’m actually working on 2017 model now. Still good stuff. I picked a bunch of green beans last night. There heading to a pickling brine tomorrow I hope.

I really like to can my garden stuff. Sure tastes good on a blustery winter day.

Nice job on the pickles Glen. waytogo I did 3 gallon jars of open crock last Thursday.

As long as the weather holds I should be deep in the canning of pickles soon. Last year was just over 300 quarts. Im not planning that this year. They pretty much all went from last year. I have sources that they go too. devil

A long time ago I had a deal worked out with a little 3.2 bar in the neighborhood to keep him in dill pickles. I did his up in standard quart jars until they were ready then transferred them to a two gallon jar with a sealing cover that he provided. I used a standard recipe but added some garlic and a couple of hot peppers to each quart. Those pickles didn’t stay in that big jar long. What a racket it was….hot, garlicy, salty pickles in beer joint.

I’m super jealous! I did some pickles last year for the first time and they turned out great. Had hopes to make a bunch more this year, but our plants just never took off and are not putting out like I had hoped for. Looks like I’ll be visiting the farmers market to get my raw materials. On the bright side, I pruned back my tomatoes and it is pushing some to close to ripe.

These head out to a western state. He only wants the dill, garlic pickles with a 1/2 sliced habanero in. Picks up 1 time a year. I’m assuming hes burning the rear end for heat all winter??

10 racks in the box yesterday . Gave out 4 of them, ate 1, vacuum sealed & froze the other 5. Amazing consistency with the old fridge smoker.

For what it’s worth, these things work extremely well at capturing the beetles: https://www.amazon.com/RESCUE-Reusable-Japanese-Oriental-Beetle/dp/B00QNSW0MO/ref=sr_1_10?crid=1CN6WRA3V9HZX&keywords=japanese+beetle+traps&qid=1564078159&s=gateway&sprefix=japanese+beetle+tra%2Caps%2C179&sr=8-10#customerReviews

I use Sevin, then watch them drop.

Those ribs sure look good. Ma and I found baby backs at $1.99/pd again yesterday and got three packs. I do mine up in the weber grill as Ma isn’t too fond of smoked anything except maybe venison ring bologna and brisket. I have an old refer at the cabin to bring home and become a smoker before fall. I’ll mount it on an old lawn mower chassis so I can wheel it in and out of the garage when needed.
