Just got back from a 7 day trip to Saskatchewan. It was a long drive ( 15 hrs. From Saint Cloud ) but well worth it. On day #1 our boat with 2 fishermen caught 91 total pike with 10 over 40”. We only had 4 or 5 that were under 30”. On day #2 we caught 67 total with 12 over 40” total for the 5 days we were able to fish we ended up with around 300 fish and 30 fish over 40”. I believe we had less than 20 fish that were under 30” . These fish were incredibly thick and powerful as well. The girth of them was incredible – way different from our spring trip to Manitoba. We only used the net on 2 fish all week. My hands are tore up. I got rather good at hand landing them by the end of the week. Not a place you want to end up with a hook in your hand ( as one member of out party found out ) I believe it ended up costing him about 1500.00. Most all fish were caught on glide style baits and large plastics. Lots of casting and working baits took a toll on my wrist for sure. Next year I’m going to need to work on getting the hands and wrist into shape before the trip. Hopefully I can get a few pictures to post

Solid. Its a shame we don’t have pike like that around here anymore. They’re like a big foot sighting these days. The only ones left around here are 20 inch snakes that everyone hates and the DNR wants people to harvest.

Its so much easier on those monsters. It helps also as the lake I fish is barbless and only 1 treble max.September 17, 2019 at 12:22 pm #1879586Great report and nice job

Completely awesome!!!! I get it now why you were posting about shadzillas and other baits like that. Got back from my pike trip to Rainy yesterday. I’ll post later in that forum. We had an awesome big fish trip and would have never guessed I would be jealous today. Wrong and congratulations again
September 27, 2019 at 1:07 pm #1881272The buddy I went to Canada with is back up there for round #2. They are catching even bigger fish this time. I’ve got a few pictures from him with some monster fish. I knew once the water temps dropped the bite would get even better for those big fish. I cant wait to get a full update from him and find out how big of fish they caught. I think 45-47 is real doable and a outside shot at a 48-50′ is possible. I believe their biggest in past trips is 49″. My buddy believes he had one on a few years ago that would have been 50+. With the weight of the fish up there in the fall I have no club what the weight on a 48-50″ would be – HEAVY for sure !!!
