Sorry guys I now this was covered before but didn’t think I would get one. I need to get a outdoors card first and then a fishing permit? is this correct? and do you just get the conservative fishing licence? mostly going to fish rainy river and maybe around sable island

This is accurate for Ontario, I haven’t fished any other provinces.

Yes, you will need to purchase the outdoors card and get a fishing license. The conservative license allows you to keep fewer fish for the frying pan if that is what you are going for. You can get a more expensive license if you want to keep more fish. This is for Ontario at least.

Rules also change by lake or area. Bring a lawyer. Lol. Read the regs for your lake but beware. You can get all your Canadian license needs on line and print a copy at your side.

Rules? you don’t need to know any rules. They will be glad to educate you.

don’t want to keep any fish in the spring and fall when we fish the rainy river, just want to fish both sides. mostly just use frozen shiners
