It’s now looking like the Canada border should be open by early fall if not sooner. Sounds like it could be open by as early as the 1st of July. Now it’s just a matter of what restrictions or requirements they set for entry. I’m fairly certain that proof of vaccination will be one of the requirements for sure. It will be interesting if some people who have not been vaccinated and say they will not be, change their mind if it is a requirement for entry. I know I’m more than a little excited to get back there in early to mid Sept. and hook up with a Few MONSTER pike.

Where did you hear/read this? Can you PLEASE provide back-up? PM me or email me if you feel better about it.

I know that it is a Province thing as NS has a quarantine before and after a travel and they are restricted from visiting a neighbors house according to my SIL. The kids live in Comox BC and his mother and brother live just South of Halifax NS.

Denny O – there has been info. On several major news media outlets in the last week. Just do a google search and you can find several articles saying their prime minister is now talking with the US government about set plans to open the border. I believe that Canada now has a higher percentage of its population with at least 1 COVID vaccination, than the US does. I believe I read that they are vaccinating at a rate of close to 1% of their population a day. The prime minster has said he’d like to have close to 75% of their population fully vaccinated prior to opening the borders. It looks like those #’s could be possible by mid August. The monthly reset date to extend the closure happens on the 17th of each month and they just announced the closure till June 17. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic but I think there is a good chance for it to open by Aug. or Sept. At this point I guess no one knows for sure. We will just have to wait and see.

    LMAO

If the American army had an amazing campaign against a formidable foe some of you would be cheering on to no end.

But since it’s white labcoats and not camo digs in the frontline it’s all apparently bull$hit.

We all know pharmaceutical CEOs are in bed with the politicians, but so are military heads and their contractors.

Vaccines are fairly simple to understand and create if one did their research on it.

More Canada for the rest of us. waytogo

No sir. Just was saying Alaska as well. I appologize.

And for nick, I dont do any vaccinations in the first place. Let alone a brand new un tested and un proved one. I dont care who made it and who’s in bed with who. I dont say no because of political affiliates, I say no because my body does not need to go through injections that are made up of bunches of garbage that a body does not need. Why would I be cheering it on if the army made it up? Not quite catching on to that one.
I can do me u do u. It doesn’t bother me to be un vaccinated, as well as it doesn’t bother me that u are. I was stating my opinion. Not making fun of any one.

    Quite the quagmire –
Unless Trudeau forces Canadians to get vaccinated I’m not sure how they will reach the 75% he is requiring to open up.
    And
How are the Vaccinated Non-Canadians crossing the the border going to prove they were vaccinated? By showing them the paper “COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card” that doesn’t even have a bar code or signature on it?

Bear, you, we are privileged to live in a society without many of the ailments from decades past bc of vaccines. I’m not going to discuss it further. Information is out there.

    Good luck fellas.

The vaccine crowd is the same as the mask crowd, uninformed and sheep of the government.

    Good Luck with that…

The closure was set to expire Friday, May 21, but has been extended another month and is now set to last until June 21, according to CTV.
“Minister Blair is in regular contact with his American counterparts about issues relating to our shared border,” James Cudmore, the director of communications for the minister of public safety, in a statement to CTVNews.ca when asked about the status of the situation on. “Until the conditions on both sides of the border change very substantively, the measures at our borders will remain intact.”

The news comes despite reports last week that Canadian officials were beginning to talk about what it would take to reopen the border.

I think there is a reasonable chance by September 1 the border could open. Earlier, unlikely.

Eventually, when the vaccines become SA (standard authorization), there will be more mandates. Right now they are only EUA (emergency use authorization) and some people are hesitant, which is understandable.

Its risky business requiring it when a vaccine is only under EUA because it opens the door for a potential lawsuit. But its pretty normal to require it when its SA.

Even trudeau doesn’t know when he will open the border. Ontario’s 28 day lock down is supposed to end tomorrow but who know’s about that. I suggest 2 things of many, stop watching the news and stop preaching about the vaccine. If people want it they will get them if not that is there right.

Gives me a little hope my late August trip can happen. Up from 0 hope, so I’ll take it. Still gonna run under the assumption I’m out until next year, and maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Life will go on either way.

You can only go fishing in Canada if you wear a mask while fishing. Common sense, really.

I’m in the Neanderthal crowd on this. Just like the Texas govener two months ago was called for telling there citizens the masks can go away and business can open up. Yesterday the state announced zero deaths from covid.

I’ll wait on Canada and see how they roll out there opening but if they put tons of restrictions on me I’ll keep my money here in the states. Life does go on. Canada can wait.

I talked to several Rainy Lake resorts near Intl Falls. Each said they are hearing Ontario will not even consider reopening border before September.

I’ve talked with several resorts in Canada as well as several people who work in the travel industry in Canada and they are hearing possibly by Mid Aug. but almost for sure by Mid Sept. ( I’m fine with Mid Sept. ) Then again this is all a guess. It will all depend on how many people there are vaccinated and what their covid case rates are like from now till then.

I think it funny when I hear people say ” I’m not going to let the government tell me what I can and can’t do ” I often wonder if they are driving without a license, Fishing without a license, not following laws, and not paying taxes. These are just a few of the ways the government already controls what we do. I’m like others here I say you do what you want, and I’ll do what I want. Wear a mask or don’t – I don’t care. Get the vaccine or Don’t I also don’t care. If other countries require a Covid vaccination for me to travel to their country and I want to go there, I’ll get the Vaccine.
