Yes, Cows! I’ll get to that in a minute…

Recently had a great camping trip up at 10K+ on Grand Mesa…Our mission (besides having fun) was to hit some brand new lakes we’d never fished. The lakes were incredibly low and all the fish seemed to be out in the middle. This was past about 30 or so yards of shin deep water covering a bunch of mud…We hiked in about 4-5 miles and didn’t bring our waders or belly boats, wish we did!

Found a good creek flowing out of one of the reservoirs and it was full of fish! Lots of fun experiences on this one including exploring the new area, Eating a meal from nature (foraging for a salad to eat with our fresh caught trout), a good handful of trout, my PB on the fly rod, and COWS invaded our camp site…Funny thing to wake up too lol. Hope you guys all enjoy the video! Hadn’t had this much fun editing since our last camping trip! Lots of good drone footage and we got a catch underwater filmed!

Tyler looks like a fun time. You could have even had surf and turf. Guessing the rancher would not have been to happy about the turf part. grin

Tyler, do you find watercress growing in these streams? It only grows in very clean water and is one very healthy salad green, a little peppery flavored but delicious.

Once in a while we do, but that specific creek was a bog about 20 yards past where we were fishing…We wanted to check out the swampy area where it opened up more and the creek flowing out of that but couldn’t even get close…Fresh Watercress is delicious and actually one of my favorite greens to forage for. Typically out here, if you find watercress; there is a good chance to find scuds too!
