Just looking for ideas in Minnesota. Trying to find out what everyone recommends for a great family friendly spot for taking the boat and tents to for the weekend. Trying to get back into doing more camping and I just dont know the spots for launch access along with good camping and people. Would also entertain idea and thoughts on camping spots that are also guy retreats for a boys weekend as well. Also any new amazing cannot live without things for camping. Thank you for the ideas.

Lake Kabetogama gets my vote. Stay at Woodenfrog campground or camp at one of the countless island sites around the lake. It is beautiful and fishing is good.
Father Hennepin is also a good one imo. It’s a closer one with more amenities and towns close by.

I second Father Hennepin, short drive, nice campground, and great fishing. It does get kind of hard to get a spot because it’s so popular, so plan ahead.

    Cross Lake Campground (Brainerd)
Chippewa National Forest Campground (Cass Lake)
    Zipple Bay State Park (LOW)
Savanna Portage State Park. (near Big Sandy)

We camped at savanna portage last year and it was great. It was very buggy though.

Tough to beat Voyageurs National Park imo.

There are lots of boat-in sites in lakes adjacent to the BWCA managed by the forest service. I spend lots of time on those, many are always empty.
