For Wisconsin gun deer season, our group lives out of a wall tent. Were looking for a semi seasoned wood source. Need a face cord. The group is sick of bucking deadfall around camp. Any recommendations?

If you find a firewood supplier, they sell what they call “irregulars” for about 1/2 the price of a cord of “regular” firewood. It is basically the stuff that didn’t split right or shorts.
I used to also drive bye construction sites and get a load of there framing scraps for quick burning heat.
November 13, 2019 at 11:29 am #1890715I see lots of people selling wood in rural Wi at the end of their drives but not sure I could locate one if I was really looking. The location of your camp or route to it could be helpful. If its near or going past my cabin I may be able to find a source?
November 13, 2019 at 12:07 pm #1890724The are a lot of people selling wood on craigslist and facebook marketplace, take a look there and find someone on your route. Wood is cheap near turtle lake area since the storms, be careful of how green it is.
November 13, 2019 at 12:42 pm #1890743To protect yourself brush up on Wisconsin rules for transporting firewood. It’s best to find something local to Rhinelander if you cant find a certified source of firewood.
Folys forest products in tomahawk just north of Rhinelander is a close source. $125 a face cordNovember 13, 2019 at 12:58 pm #1890750Yeah. Foleys wants $140 for a face cord ????. They must sell a lot to the chicago folk in minocqua
November 13, 2019 at 1:04 pm #1890754Hopefully you can find some local people up there. Its recommended 10 miles for local but 50 miles is to far.

November 13, 2019 at 9:44 pm #1890850There ya go. Buy off face book with no claim of certified. Yea it’s ok to transport insect larvae into a state forest. Next time bring some zebra villagers with you. I’m probably talking out of turn for Merrill’s. But hey we have to be careful about transporting this poop.

Actually facebook isn’t a bad way to go, not certified, but fits within the 10 mile rule, in most cases… easily…

I’d look in the Minocqua marketplace, wood sellers all over right now… other wise consider Michael Saal’s recommendation as he is from Merrill and is very reliable in our area.
