Camera operation features/questions

Just starting to look for a camera setup to use mainly with TV in hard side ice house.
Is it possible to run a line to the house batteries to extend runtime?
Do the cameras need a special cable to run to the full size tv?
Should the camera be set up looking down on the baits to avoid spooking fish?
    Any other features/details to consider?

    Thanks for any help.

In a hard house just keep a charger on it or bring an extra battery. You will need a video out jack or usb on your camera to go to the tv. It’s not a big deal, most do. You can pick up an old vexilar fish phone for next to free these days. One thing. If your tv doesn’t have the old style RCA style jacks you’ll need a camera with a USB port or Bluetooth and a tv with the same style input. It’s all very simple when you see them. Cameras from the top or down is available whichever brand you buy. That’s never been an issue to me. I run mine horizontal so I can see the bait in the other holes. Buy either type of cable online rather than Best Buy or even Walmart, they’ll be about 75% less. You probably won’t use a camera near as much as you think. When I built my house I built the cable into the wall so I don’t trip over it all the time.

Thanks 3rd–I’m not sure what a Vexilar fish phone is, or where to find that.
My tv has the rca jack and a place for HDMI cord…so I’m good there.
    Thanks for your help.

Here’s info on FishPhone, but I believe it’s a discontinued product from Vexilar as they don’t list it in their current product lineup on their website. https://www.vexilar.com/fishphone

I’m probably just adding to your confusion, I don’t THINK you can buy a brand name camera without video out capabilities. This was just a camera with wi fi and saved you some on the screen and let you use your phone or tablet as the screen, they work great but for this your TV needs the older RCA/Component jack on it. That’s the red-yellow-white jacks like in my picture uses. Component works to because you only need the one that’s for video. Any sales guy can tell you how to hook up any camera you look at. I don’t upgrade because my camera doesn’t get used much, mostly just for finding seedlings and bottom comps.
