Cabin or Cottage

factor in the weight and vehicle you’ll be putting it in. I have the one smaller than a resort I think its a lodge and it sucks to lift it into a vehicle by yourself.

Can’t stress this enough. I got a really good deal on a lodge, and love it when I can drag it with the wheeler. The thing that really sucks though is I need to completely unload it to even get it in the back of my truck if I am by myself. I have really thought about buying a cheaper 1 man to use for early ice, but it is tough to convince myself to spend a couple hundred bucks for something that I already have.

Was messing around today since we have NO ice around here to share a couple pics of the Otter rod box in the tub of a Cottage. It definitely will fit and work just fine. I think I would choose to stand it up then you have a lot of space under the seats to store other stuff and it looks as though you could lay a Kdrill down along side it. I have the new inserts for the Otter box so I will be able to eliminate a tackle bag also. In the past when walking out and dragging it on the ice with a Smitty sled I would just lay my auger on top off the cover. Also the height of the handle is well below the height of the seat when folded down and under the cover.

I have the cottage pro (whatever the insulated version is w/bucket seats). I can’t imagine fishing two people in something smaller. I can fish with my two youngest inside. It’s a little tight, but we get by. With 2 adults, it’s almost perfect.

I have the hifax kit, which helps for pulling and wears better. However, I still want to build a Smitty sled because if you’re pulling for a long distance, it gets heavy!

Trying to figure out how to fit everything in my otter pro cabin sled, looking for ideas from others that have one. My jiffy pro 4 lite handles only fit on the left side of the seat rail, which is fine, but then to my disappointment I can’t even fit a 5 gallon bucket all the way down in the sled on the other side of the seat real, kinda pisses me off it’s not an inch wider of a sled, anyone else run into this issue and how do you approach putting things in your sled

I use milk crates. The square maximizes the space and the height is better. I recently saw some square 5 gallon buckets at menards that might be the ticket.

I use the old school hard plastic milk crates with about 1” cut off the top, this allows them to slide under the seat crossbar. It’s by far the best way to organize/protect stuff in your sled.

Does sound like good ideas, I realized later I can just slide the other end of my augur over to ft a pail in the house but I have the flip the seat up every time to get it out. Almost wishing I got a lodge but the cabin just suited my needs better, it would be ideal to just find a 5 gallon bucket that is like 2 inches shorter than the normal sized ones
