Cabelas Strikes Again

I go there over lunch on a holiday season Friday and its busy. (today) I shop for about 20 min for gift ideas and end up with 3 items, including a birthday present for a friend only to find there are only two checkout lanes open and a line that wrapped halfway back to the entrance. I just placed my items on the customer service counter and left. I simply didn’t have time for their payment process. I don’t get what they are trying to accomplish with that store.

Can’t say I blame you for not wanting to wait half an hour to buy something. I wouldn’t

I don’t blame you. They have been going downhill as far as customer service and quality of goods for a while now. Not sure if the BPS purchase was the reason or not.

For me, Scheels has taken over for what Cabela’s once was.

It’s kind of sad to go into the Woodbury (MN) Cabela’s and the ice fishing section is regulated to the old Bargain Cave with an adjacent corner area outside the cave where shelters are on display. Kinda makes the hobby feel insignificant.

It is the norm at many stores not just Cabelas. I was at Kohls last week. 3 checkouts open out of 4. I was #13 in line to check out.
This morning a 20 minute wait at Walmart to check out. Half of the self checkouts shut down. flame
I don’t understand shutting down self checkouts. shock crazy

I would love to have Scheels closer but my wallet wouldn’t.

Fleet in Alexandria is about the same. Last Saturday morning, there was two lanes open and they kept telling the ones in the back of the line to go to the service counter. I was in line for 10 minutes for 2 items.
The Walmart was just as bad.

Unfortunately, they don’t care that you you walked out either, leave a bad review, that might help.

I don’t think any store can sink to the incompetence of Walmart.

A.stop at customer service desk with bad battery I needed to replace. “We no longer credit the core fee before you buy a battery “
Me: do I leave the battery here or do I splatter battery acid all over the entire store? It’s dripping.

You can leave it here but I leave soon and nobody will know what to do.

Is it better that I go to automotive?

Ya, when you get a new battery they will give you a slip to scan at the register.

    Blah,blah….

Someone explain to me how to scan this slip???? They didn’t explain that in my training

In fairness, this is a fundamental part of the shopping experience at Walmart. It’s the excitement of seeing what they can screw up next.

A year or so ago I bought a couple of the big jugs of motor oil. I got them home went to change oil and discovered that they all contained used motor oil. Somebody actually managed to return them without the customer service clerk bothering to look and see if the seal had been broken. So they got returned and put back on the shelves.

But nothing will diminish my enthusiasm for walmart. It’s so delightfully… Cheap.. Also can I just say the people watching is second to none.

As a final thought, the mobility scooters at Walmart are a wonder of engineering. The ability of a vehicle that small to bear that much weight is surely the 8th wonder of the world.

I will say, buy a rod/reel combo at Walmart and then buy the same one at Cabelas. Break them both and see who’s return policy you’re happier with….

    That is sooooo true.
As Walmart Corporate idiots unveil their extreme level of ignorance in the roll out of the new and improved store layouts, much shorter conveyors at the registers, increased self-checkout in a condensed area, and add min 2′ depth of product on every aisle end cap.

I have witnessed so many accidents of people colliding carts, scooters into carts/people, and people simply walking into each others. How common sense doesn’t prevail is the 9th wonder. Every isle is now a blind intersection. The added products on the end caps makes it impossible to to see who’s coming around the corner like Mario Andretti. I know its a bit morbid to see the humor in it, but I actually started counting on each trip to Wally world how many people I see get hurt.

Then the new short conveyors LMAO doah jester jester jester jester jester If anything screams buy less, here’s your sign!! I try to get groceries for 2-3 weeks at a time. Keep in mind, its typically just my dad and I so its only one cart. BEFORE I have the cart emptied, the cashier is already setting bags on the floor because there is no space. When the cashiers looks at me with the dumbfounded deer in the head light look, I politely let them know that the brilliant corp idiots of Walmart didn’t review the physics of volume and space in my training video rotflol rotflol rotflol rotflol rotflol rotflol rotflol rotflol

All of the above are correct.
Fully staffed and competent are largely things of the past.
I almost snapped at the pharmacist at Walgreens the other day – what a “”rick.
Watch the news or other programs that have text scrolling along underneath. Does ANYONE proofread of know how to spell anymore?!
I will say the best staffed places are the Kwik Trips. Have yet to be disappointed in them.

Have they organized the ammo section in that store yet? The last time It was a mess, and different calibers were scattered throughout the ammo shelves.

An earlier post complimented Reeds in Walker. I am in there all summer. I love going in there. On busy days they beef up the checkout process. I am always amazed at how they changeup their floor layout so often. It’s like a new store every month.

On the other hand they tend not to stock the more affordable models of items like fishing rods for example.

Always check the cap/seal when buying oil, especially at Walmart.
