Many anglers have the same idea.
SD (social distancing) from their boat!
It looks like Easter weekend down here!
Pool 4 in Red Wing is at 9.25′ dropping from yesterday’s 9.29′. It’s been hanging around the 9.xx’ mark for a week and projected out the same with a slight rise by the end of next week that’s hardly enough to mention.
Water temp is between 38 and 38.5F.
I’m not staring at the river all day (well maybe I am) but I haven’t seen much debris coming down stream. Still, it’s spring so keep an eye out.
Colville Park is open. Plenty of parking there last weekend. I don’t think word is out that it’s open yet. No docks at this time.
WI Back Channel is open. Docks are out of course.
Do yourself and family a favor. Fish with someone and wear your PFD.
And lastly, there are some fishing boats that are trying to knock all the Spam off my shelf.
A couple weekends ago a boat came by the ends of the docks plowing along. I smiled and gave him the sign to slow down. His reply was that he was going 3 mph.
The definition of slow-no wake is “as slow as a person can go and still maintain steerage but never more then 5 MPH.”
There are two 3 mph in a boat. One where the boat is level and hardly creating a wake and the other when the trim is set to push the back end of the boat into the water. Both are 3 mph. Once creates a very large wake while the other does not.
Operating in squat mode is like hanging a sign saying “Amateur” over the side.
Sure hope to see some P4 fish pictures soon…you know, the ones where I’m holding them?!
