Buying reconditioned Millwaukee M18 Fuel drill opinions

I feel confidant with the Millwaukee brand reputation but have never bought a factory reconditioned power tool before and have reservations. I typically buy the best I can afford but feel I could be let down by lesser quality tools at this price point .

I buy the Milwaukee Fuel 20 volt stuff. Spendy but if you don’t drop them to often are good tools. I haven’t tried the re-conditioned tools.

Dont think I would be to worried about it. Cordless tools seem pretty bulletproof in the 1st place.

I buy a ton of reconditioned dewalt stuff. Never really had any issues. I would think Milwaukee would be the same.

Wouldn’t bother me a bit. I buy used and reconditioned stuff all the time and rarely have an issue.

I have bought from CPO before.

The complaint I have is it wasn’t the drill that let me down, it was the batteries. They only lasted about 6 months and then they started to puke out. AT the time CPO said no warranty on batteries, just the tool.

The drill might be reconditioned, but the batteries I got clearly were not.

IMO unless you have a stack of batteries already, it’s false economy to go with reconditioned tools and used batteies. Watch the interweb for deals and buy new so you get the full warranty and new batteries. Look at the cost of 2 replacement batteries, it’s worth buying new so you get at least 3-4 years out of the batteries and don’t inheret someone else’s junk.

Any reason you guys wouldn’t consider the new Ridgid Octane brushless drill with the 9ah 18v battery? I think these are new drills and they have 1300 in lb of torque. I am planning to pick one up due to the lifetime warranty on the unit/batteries and all my other Ridgid tools have kept up well to my DIY use.

Can get the setup for $209 right now (maybe $200).
