Buying Parts

I bought a new Alumacraft from a nearby Cabela’s store a couple of years ago and have since moved. Now the nearest authorized dealer is an hour and a half away from where I live. I don’t really want to drive three hours to purchase some replacement parts I need.

Is there anywhere on line where you can order Alumacraft parts? I have been unable to find anywhere on line. Contacted Alumacraft and they were zero help, just told me to call a dealer and order parts over the phone. I can do that but it seems like it would be a whole lot easier to look at a picture of what I am ordering to make sure it is correct.

Also, does anybody know where to find wiring diagrams on-line.

Probably was a mistake buying a boat from Cabelas, I have been plagued with blown circuits and electrical problems ever since I bought it. I think there were probably way to many little kids playing in the boat when it was sitting outside their store.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

have been plagued with blown circuits and electrical problems ever since I bought it.

If that’s the case you have some bigger problem going on.

Other than the hull, deck, molded plastic consoles and windshields, everything can be bought from a catalog or online. Virtually all the parts are universal.

What exactly are you looking for?

    Agree with BG.

Also, whenever you have to replace boat parts, you have a chance to move to a higher quality part. Midwest Aluminum boats these days are all price point boats designed to look pretty. Corners are cut almost everywhere by using “bare minimum” quality and function parts. Amost everything on them is undersized and functions at the bare minimum so they can say it works. I shake my head every time I see a new boat with rinky-dink undersized wireing, cheap automotive switches, plastic hinges, non-stainless fasteners, etc, etc etc.

What parts are you looking for? Whatever it is, there’s better out there than an original.

    Boats.net and defender.com

I have no idea what you’re looking for but they have a lot of motor parts.

Thanks for the responses, at this point I need to replace several of the circuit breakers in the dash that won’t reset. I probably have something bigger going on that is causing the breakers to quit working, but it is kind of hard to diagnose with the bad breakers in place. I know I can order generic breakers from any marine supply house, but the boat is at a remote cabin we visit once each year for a month. I should have pulled the bad breakers before I left this summer so I knew for sure what size they are, that was one of the reasons I figured if I ordered OEM parts for my make and model I would have the right breaker.

Oh well, maybe I will get brave and rewire the whole rats nest behind the dash and install automotive fuses in line instead.

    Thanks!

Not sure how the alumacraft warranty is set up but it might be worth calling a “good” alumacraft dealer and see if the warranty would cover fixing the issue causing the electrical issues. Cant hurt to investigate this option. It might require you to bring it to the dealer for some time but winter might provide some down time for that if you don’t use your boat in the winter.

I would start by rewiring anything that wasn’t wired at Alumacraft. But then again I would have taken a road trip to a dealer which in the long run will turn out to be cheaper and more time efficient. But this will give you a winter project.
