Its been a while since I have been able to hop on the computer and write a report. It sounds like everyone is still catching fish on the lake, especially now that Walker bay has warmed up a little. Here on the South end of the lake we have seen the mayflys by the thousands and it looks like we might have finally hit the tail end of them, with a very large hatch last night, and not many left alive right now, I think we will be in the clear. Most of my trips while I have been out have had two distinct patterns working for me. During the day time Spinner rigs and bottom bouncers are working best with gold, orange or silver being my best colors, and during the lowlight times, pulling a lindy rig or slip bobbering with a leech is best. We have had full buckets everyday down at the fish cleaning house and many happy anglers so it looks like the bite is not slowing down because of the mayflies. My best depths during the day are 17-25 feet of water and during the evening I am in 6-10 feet, if the wind is blowing hard the same depth works all day. Just keep moving and changing colors is the best right now. We have also had some good reports of smallmouths getting caught, what a good surprise that is, I had a kid bring in a 20″ fish hopefully he sends me his picture. They are getting their smallies mixed in with the walleyes while slip bobbering. Musky action is still slow, I have heard about a lot of follows just not a lot of catching hopefully that picks up as the water continues to warm, I had 70 this morning on the surface should be a matter of time before they bite. Looks like it will be another awesome weekend to be on Leech and another busy weekend up here at the resort. Always be safe on the water and hope to see you out there. JB
