Hey guys – I wanted to get some recommendations on boots. My Military Bunny Boots (Black) have performed incredibly well (Even in -35 at the Brainerd Jaycees Tourney, here is a sweet video of that day, I’m the guy with the Blue bag in Gray calmly warmly walking out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGMAhDbQaLM&t=40s)

They are great, but so heavy for a guy who wants to move around a lot. Thanks in advance!

I dont see how you could go wrong with LaCrosse Iceman or Ice Kings.
If you want all rubber then the heaviest mucks.

I currently have some discontinued Baffin boots that I’ve had for about 10 years now. They are the warmest thing I’ve had on my feet by far. The only thing they need now is a new coat of water repellent and maybe some new liners. Otherwise flawless.

If I were to buy another pair, I’d get the Baffin Apex. You won’t be disappointed.

    Mickey Mouse boots black
I had my MM boots on all weekend at LOTW. I don’t consider them heavy.

Muck Arctic Pro for 3 years. Best boot I’ve ever had. Easy on and off, half the weight of my old Ice Kings and warmer.

I considered the same thing this year. I’ve had my mickey boots since 2001. Very warm but a little heavy. Those muck Arctic pro boots might be on my radar next. My black mickeys are no where near done just looking for something lighter for pheasant, whitetail hunting and fishing.

Has anyone tried the Cabelas Trans-Alask boot? Or the camo version, the Saskatchewan?

These boots have been in the Cabelas lineup for a long time and they get very good reviews. Always thought these would be worth a look if I ever needed anything warmer than my trusty LaCrosse pac boots.

Doug that was awesome video! We were there and oh what a time. We seen pails of gear flying across the ice. People getting blown over also. Temperature dropped big time that day.

Now to the boots. White bunny boots and cleats. The weight is good exercise.

I’ve had Ice Kings since 1995, warmest boots I’ve ever owned. They’re a bit bulky and I don’t like them for driving but out on the ice they’re hard to beat.

My good friend races sled dogs and wears the trans alaskans from cabelas when he races. He swears by them. Races long distance races like the John Beargrease in Minnesota here and will be in the Iditarod this coming March. He has done the trial and error with clothing over the years and these are his go to.

My 1200 gram Irish setters work perfect for run N gun. Do they get cold when shacked up and sitting on ice, absolutely, but not my style so it works for me. Typically I’m never at one hole for more than 10 minutes, even then I’m on my knees with feet off ice. Then I usually cross over a few holes to get to ones untapped yet so feet get plenty of chance to warm back up.

Back when I was running 5ks few times a week my circulation was great, and even my cheap boots at the time with wool socks worked, although had limited ice time then. Nowadays it’s more beer and few years older and feet get chillier quicker, I’d go lighter if you can.
