Bugs?

I was fishing a lake this weekend and when I would drill holes and lift the auger up tons of little bugs would come out of the water and if you looked down the hole you could see them everywhere. Was just wondering if these are bugs or some sort of plankton? Could this cause fishing to be slower? We marked fish all weekend but really had to work for it to get them to bite.

Probably daphnia, a type of plankton. Bluegills eat a lot of this

No not freshwater shrimp they were very very small and everywhere. You would see them move every once in awhile but mainly just were floating there

I’ve always wondered what those are as well. They were all over Minnetonka last weekend
